“Education for sustainable development allows every human being to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary to shape a sustainable future to make judgments and choices in favour of sustainable lifestyle. But in my country Nigeria, the persistent instability in government policies drastically affects the implementation of these long-life sustainability policies in our education sector. However, in my school , we encourage students to learn through practical approaches which help them to be creative, think critically about real-world issues and to take action in response to their learning just as the saying goes ‘You may never know what results come of your actions, but if you do nothing, there will be no results.’” - Fredrick Ochin.
In my country, there is steady improvement in content and pedagogy in the teaching-learning process. However, this is targeted more at equipping the learners with ICT-related skills in this 21st century, rather than blending it with ESD pedagogical culture.
Thinking about implementing ESD, there needs to be a thorough and intensive teacher-orientation and development courses to be well equipped to prepare the learners of this generation holistically to meet their global needs. - Chujor George Prince
“Classroom management in my country doesn't give much freedom of choice to the learners, rather everything is decided by the teachers. Although these days, teachers are trying their best to be innovative and bring new ideas to the classroom, yet it is a long way to go to be as effective as in Finland.” - Dr. Laxmi Raymond Jabe.
