Looking ahead!

The team Human Capital Investors has designed an ambitious action plan that seeks to achieve equality for all in obtaining a quality education. An  exciting idea that will invite student teachers from Ain Shams University to be part of a national project that aims at eliminating illiteracy from the Egyptian society.

In order to achieve this goal we will try to apply sustainability in designing a training course for our student teacher in our faculty to participate in reducing and eliminating the numbers of illiterate people in the Egyptian society. The goal which we work towards is quality education and reducing inequality. - says the Human Capital investors team.

What are the changes and actions needed in your country?

In Egypt, STEAM is an emerging educational approach applied recently in some secondary schools. Of course, this approach is facing a lot of challenges such as the need to change the pedagogical culture, the need for highly trained teachers and a lot of educational resources. Also, in Egypt the multidisciplinary approach has been applied in the new curricula of grade 1 and 2. I think on the national level the mentality has been changed and realised that it is a demand for the future and for the development of the country. - Hany Yousef

What do the school's teachers say?

"It is a good idea of focusing on learning rather than testing. It allows students to be more engaged in the activities and achieve better understanding.
I will guide them to be effective citizens who are keen to protect their world and save the natural resources. They can participate by doing many activities such as: turning off unnecessary light in their home and school, planting trees and keeping the green areas, saving water, recycling."

"Good planning for my lessons. Motivating my students to learn from real world problems. To motivate their scientific thinking skills. Mentoring my students to research and make inquiry to solve society problems and challenges. Being a lifelong learner and improving my professional skills . Cooperation with my colleagues in professional learning communities to improve our students' skills . Making self reflection about my performance and improving it . Support and encourage my students specially who faced learning difficulties."

Let's see the projects in action!

We do this because illiteracy is an urgent problem, and Faculty of Education must have important role in eliminating illiteracy, so we are looking forward to qualify our students to be able to deal with adult illiterate people, help them to learn how to read, write, deal with surrounding environment and give them Quality education as one of the most important forms of ESD.

EduGems team is full of hope about this project to increase possibilities to educate people, a crucial aspect of social sustainability. Best of luck to your great plans!
