In 1929, the Institute of Higher Education for Teachers was established; With the aim of preparing teachers for public education schools, and working for the institute to be a center for scientific research in issues of education and psychological study of children, and to be a tool for disseminating modern ideas about education among educators. In September 1956, a special law was issued to organise Egyptian universities, then in the same month a presidential decree was issued stating: “The College of Education should be one of the Faculties of Ain Shams University. At the end of 1970, the Teachers College was included in the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, and similarly to most of the Faculties of Education in Egypt were established.
Since that time, the Faculty's tasks have been defined in:
- preparing and qualifying students to practice the teaching profession, following the integrated system for high school graduates, and the consecutive system for university graduates and those of their level
-preparing specialists and leaders in the various aspects of this profession
- conducting scientific research in Education issues, publishing the results of that research,
- renewing thought and promoting culture.
The Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, is accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation. It has a 4-star rating in the QS International Classification for the year 2018.
